Indoor Meetings, Events and Walks
Unless otherwise stated, meetings will be held in the
Upper Hall, High St Methodist Church, Witney at
7.15pm for 7.30pm to 10pm

October 2008
Friday 3rd Graham Wren “Birds and Seals of the Farne Islands”

Sunday 12th 2.0pm FUNGUS FORAY in Foxholes BBOWT reserve,
Bruern (Near Milton-under-Wychwood). Meet in the small car
park (SP259 208), reached by a farm track from a minor road at
SP260 202 just west of Bruern Abbey.

Friday 7th Kerri Lock “ The Ecology of Chimney Meadows”

Sunday 9th 2pm AUTUMN COLOUR Withington Woods,/
Chedworth area. Meet at Chedworth Roman Villa (but do not use the
NT car park) (SP056 135) About 4 miles with a shorter alternative if

Friday 5th Brian Laney “Some of Britain’s Rare and Localised
Wild Flowers”

Saturday 6th 2pm THE LIVING RAIN FOREST at Hampstead
Norreys near Newbury (SU542 761). An opportunity to view tropical
exotica in warmth and comfort. Leave the A34 by the turning for
East Ilsley and follow the signs through Compton for the Living Rain

Sunday 4th 2pm CORNWELL near Chipping Norton. A short
walk of about 1 hour from the village. Meet at the village telephone

Friday 16th MEMBERS NIGHT(but non members equally welcome)
- your chance to show off yourslides, photos and other
materials for display or identification. Birds’ nests? - bring them
along! Also a fiendish quiz.

Friday 6th David Endacott “The World of Bats”

Sunday 15th 11am SLIMBRIDGE Wildfowl and Wetland
Reserve. Met in the car park. Entry £7.95 concessions £6.15. In
addition to the penned exotic collections there are well placed
hides to view wild birds feeding on the marshes and meadows of
the Severn Estuary. Facilities include a café/restaurant, wheelchairs
and motorised vehicles for those with walking problems,
gift shop and an in Focus optical goods shop. Leader: Ray Edwards

Friday 6th March ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING followed by
Mike Read “The Barn Owl—under the cloak of darkness”.

Saturday 14th 2.30pm THE BARRINGTONS. Meet at The Fox,

SSSI near Beckley. Meet opposite the Royal Oak tearooms on the
B4027 (SP559 096). Lunches available in pubs in Beckley and
Stanton St. John
