Summer programmes will most likely be handed out at the meeting on Friday 4th May, or posted a day or two later if you do not attend.

Walks Leaders are asked to provide Brenda Betteridge with a report for inclusion in the newsletter. Brief as well as longer reports are always welcome.

All indoor meetings are held at the High Street Methodist Church Hall, Witney,
usually in the Upper Hall.
All are welcome from 7.15 p.m., and the main meeting will start at 7.30 p.m. Queries should be e-mailed to, or directed to the Programme Secretary, on 01993 841194.

We regret no dogs are allowed on our walks.

For the walks members are advised to buy either the first two Ordnance Survey
maps or the second two in the following list to help in finding the start point of walks.

Map No 25 Outdoor Leisure Series for the Cotswolds at 2 1/2" to the mile.
Map No 180 Explorer Series for Oxford, Witney and Woodstock at 2 ½" to the mile.
Map No 163 Landranger Series for Cheltenham Area at 1 1/4" to the mile.
Map No 164 Landranger Series for Oxford area at 1 ¼" to the mile.

Waterstones Book Shop, High Street, Witney (next to Woolgate Entrance),
Blackwells and Waterstones in Oxford stock these.

Map references for the walks venues consist of two letters (the map area) and six
numbers. These can easily be worked out by reading the first two numbers of the
reference given along the top or bottom (horizontal) edges of the map (the third map
number represents the number of tenths towards the next map number to the right).
Similarly, read the last three numbers for the vertical map reference from the bottom
to the top of the map. Tracing with your finger, you find the meeting point where the
two tracing lines intersect.

Queries should be e-mailed to, or directed to the Walks
Programme Secretary, Tony Mattingley on 01993 868282 unless another contact number
is given in the programme.

Members without transport should telephone a club officer/committee member who
will be very pleased to arrange a lift.
