February Fungi

Lindsay Fisher writes: Most noticeable fungi appear in the autumn, but last month’s wet weather produced quite a crop of eye-catching specimens in Witney’s Deer Park Wood.

These were generally fairly common varieties such as Elf Cups and Turkey Tails, but any definitive identifications of the attached photos would be gratefully received by Witney Woodland Volunteers, who are steadily building up records of all the species found on this site.

Deer Park Wood can be freely accessed from Deer Park Road or Range Road, off the Burford Road. Wear your wellies at the moment as it’s extremely muddy in places!

If you can identify the fungi, please let Lindsay know at lftw3.hfp@outlook.com.
