Moth Morning at Shilton

Despite a dismal weather forecast for Sunday 7 July, fifteen members of the Field Club met in a lovely garden in Shilton for our annual moth morning. It was great to have several members who had never been to this event before.

Once again, Julian had set out the moth traps overnight but we found fewer moths than usual, no doubt because of the cold, wet night. We set to on the identification while the rain held off and saw a lovely variety of moths.

Afterwards we enjoyed a sociable time together in some sunshine, whilst making short work of the croissants and hot drinks. Most people had a chance to walk round the beautiful, nature-friendly garden before the rain eventually arrived, and we broke up a little earlier than usual. We have to thank Veronia for hosting, Julian (and David) for making us wiser about moths, and Julia for organising the refreshments.

The full species list can be found here.
